Are you ready for summer? You can celebrate the start of the season with some Bug’s Life cupcakes! These cupcakes are inspired by the opening sequence of the movie when the ants are gathering food for the grasshoppers. The seeds and berries they gather always looked like almonds and raspberries to me, so that is what I used on these cupcakes.
I think asparagus looks a bit like the grass that the ants are harvesting the seeds from, so I used some as background decorations. The bodies of the ants are made from Smarties and mini M&Ms. I used a writing tip to draw frosting antennae, arms, and legs on the ants.
Here is the setup for the whole party. I put some rock shaped scones, cereal, berries, and nuts onto leaf plates.
No gaps! My little ants are all in a row to deliver their seeds to the pile.
Here is the A Bug’s Life baby blanket that I made. The clovers are made from 4 separate hearts. I chain stitched a row for the arms and legs. You can sew them on in any pose. For general instructions on how to make shapes, take a look at this post.
