Happy birthday to the Queen! -Of England, not Hearts, but the latter is the inspiration for this party. There is a new Alice movie in theaters now! If you liked the first live action Alice movie from Disney I think you will like too. I liked this one better than the first and once again the art direction was amazing and inspired me to throw a little party.<\/p>\n

Time’s Hanging Pocket Watches<\/strong><\/p>\n

Time “is a he” in this movie and he lives in a clock.\u00a0 In one room he has a lot of pocket watches hanging on chains which I though would be a good decoration for a party. These are blind bagged so you won’t know which one you will get, but I think they are all cute.\u00a0 I bought 2 of these. Here are Time and Cheshire Cat having tea.<\/p>\n

Queen’s Vegetable Guard<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Queen of Hearts has a bunch of vegetable people who work for her in this movie. I think they are really interesting looking so I made one of their faces out of bok choy, tomatoes, baby lettuce, cooked asparagus, and baked potatoes.<\/p>\n

Queen of Hearts Dinner<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hearts in this dinner are just hamburger meat formed into heart shapes before cooking. I spread some tomato paste on top of them after they were cooked so they looked red. They are sitting on a bed of vegetables, because the Queen’s new home looks like a mass of vegetation grown together.\u00a0 You can get the heart cookies from IKEA.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Ant Farm Cake<\/strong><\/p>\n

In case you haven’t seen the movie, I don’t want to say anything about this other than there is an ant farm in the movie and it looks like it is in a wooden picture frame. The “sand” in this ground up shortbread cookies, but I think it would also look and taste good with graham cracker crumbs. Graham crackers are not sold in Australia, so I needed an alternative. I used a drawing tip, leaf tip, and rose tip to make the patterns on the frame. I drew the pattern of the hat with a chop stick, but it didn’t stand out as much as I wanted so I just traced that with black frosting.<\/p>\n

Bracelet Based on Hatter’s Sash<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mad Hatter’s costume is really cool in both movies. I really like his sash made out of spools of thread and his pin cushion ring. You can buy a ring that looks almost exactly like the one he wears in the movie on Amazon made by Clover (Japan).
