This month I was chosen to do the featured review for Kawaii Box! The cool thing for me is that my box was sent to me for free, and the great news for you is that you get to enter to win one as well! This box ships all over the world, you don’t have to be in the US to enter. It has free shipping which is really awesome, especially for those of us who live in Australia, because international shipping prices can be pretty costly.

I bought 3 Kawaii Boxes from previous months because I wanted to try a subscription box and I really liked what they included in past boxes. Specifically, I really like that this box includes craft supplies and diy kits. It also always has a writing implement and stickers. I can never get enough of those so I figured that I would always find useful things that I love in the box.

It’s also really fun to get food items in the box. Many of these can be found in Australia at specialty grocery stores, but they are fairly expensive. If you live in a rural area of Australia or America you probably don’t have an easy way to get these and may not know some of these products exist. I grew up in a rural area and I know I would have loved to be able to get candy from other countries. My Grandpa and Aunt visited Japan when I was young and I absolutely loved all the things they brought back for my brother and I. This included a bag with Hello Kitty on it, and it may explain why I still love Hello Kitty so much. Hello Kitty even makes an appearance in this month’s box!

A lot of items in this month’s box are pink! One of my little kawaii fans was so excited about the squishy heart doughnut key chain (bottom right corner) that I was barely able to get a picture of it! The caramel corn (red bag) only lasted about 3 minutes because it was gobbled up so fast. This month’s box included a pin which may be a new ongoing inclusion, because there was a pin in last month’s box also.  In the upper left corner the word “cute” is the pin. There is a protective film on it, so make sure you take that off so it is nice and shiny. The little cat paws in the center image are page markers. Now let’s take a closer look at the other items in the box.

This moth’s box has socks, and they have Hello Kitty on them! I mentioned above how much I love Hello Kitty, so this is really cool. These are definitely women’s socks, because my feet are US9 and they fit me. I probably won’t put them in the dryer though because they may shrink. These are very soft socks that seem like they will be nice and cozy in winter weather.

Little Cinderella is holding the sheet of nail stickers. I don’t paint my nails very often, so I thought of another way to use these. They make great dolls earrings!

This month’s stickers are cute little objects with smiley faces. There are a lot of food items like burgers and popsicles (paddle pops), but there are also plants and even a few teeth. I used some of these to make a few tiny cards. One is for St. Patrick’s Day, one could be a thank you card for a teacher at the end of the year, and the last one could be left by the tooth fairy.

Bead Kit

This is a really nice kit. It includes 2 elastic strings that are long enough for a child’s necklace. I like that the beads are nicely sorted in this flower-shaped tray. If you save the other plastic part of the packaging without the cardboard backing, you can use it as a lid for the tray between uses.

I made a bracelet and a necklace from the kit and still had beads left over. For the necklace I used a plastic chain (H20-2665CH) that I got from FireMountainGems.com. The little bow is from DAISO.

One of my favorite items from the box is this cute gel ink pen. Look at that sleepy bear at the top! The pen has a very vibrant color so it’s a little bit difficult to see, but “Polar Bear” is written on the little inner tube he’s laying on.

This month’s box had a plush Janbe San. Here he is with 2 other plush from previous boxes. I love the plush key chains that are in these boxes. They are really high quality and adorable! Originally I thought they would make a great gift, but I’ll admit that I’m having a really difficult time parting with them. I’ve decided to use them was make a hanging decoration like you see up during the Japanese holiday of Hinamatsuri. This holiday celebrates daughters and some of the decorations are silk fabric dolls/flowers/etc. strung together on a red string. I love the look of lots and lots of these hanging up together.

Here  is my first string of dolls. Each of these have a little loop on top to tie the string on. I used the little tag at the bottom of the plush to attach the string on that side. So far I only have 4 dolls, but I will hang them up next year with the crocheted decorations themed to Big Hero 6 that I made previously.

If you want to jump start your collection, Blippo (the maker of Kawaii Box) has a plush special going on right now. You can get 10 assorted plush in a cute bag for AU $19.62. It’s such a good deal, I thought I’d just mention it. You could also use this set of plush as party favors.

I can’t decide if the plush or the candy below is my favorite item from this box. I love everything about this candy. The little chocolates are so cute and so is the packaging.

Here’s a close up of them. They are almost too cute to eat!

I decided to make a “crazy shake” with them. This type of shake first started in Australia a few years ago. There are really elaborate versions of these sold all over Australia and they have become a trend in the US also. I think they are really cool looking, but they seem like too much to eat. That’s why I made this one very small. Usually they are sold in mason jars or a similar sized glass. The little glass jar I used for this one is about 100ml. The general procedure for these milk shakes is to put frosting around the edge of the glass and then stick candy to it before poring the milkshake in. After you’ve poured the milkshake in, just add anything to the top. I’ve seen candy, cupcakes, cookies, or even doughnuts piled on top of these. I added some cotton candy (fairy floss) to the top to make it look like a cloud because I used the Little Twin Star candies for this shake.

I think this month’s box is great! The candy and plush are really amazing, and as usual I really like all the other high quality items. Thanks for visiting my site, and don’t forget to enter the give away. Good luck!
