The Secret of Kells Snacks

The Secret of Kells Snacks

I am currently working on making food from all of Cartoon Saloon’s feature films. The first two, The Secret of Kells and The Song of the Sea are Irish folklore based. Their fourth film will be Wolfwalkers and it will compete the trio.

The Secret of Kells may be a little scary for younger children, but it is a great movie and I really love it’s wood block, bold color style. There is a faerie named Aisling in this movie. On the movie poster she is peaking through leaves. I’ve recreated that with this salad. The peas in the background are meant to represent the berries that Aisling helps Brendan find. The eyes are a hard boiled egg cut in half with black olive slices.

I put the chicken underneath the spinach leaves. The chicken had honey mustard dressing over it.

Pangur Ban Apple Snack

I used mini M&Ms and chocolate sauce to make these apple slices look like Pangur Ban the cat. Pangur Ban has one green eye and one blue eye, so I used M&Ms for them.

Fimo Aisling from The Secret of Kells

Turn the darkness into…LIGHT!

I don’t know if there were ever any toys made for this movie, so you need to make your own. I made my favorite character, Aisling out of Fimo clay. Who is your favorite character?
